What should I do if my baby has poor brain development?

Patient's question:

Unable to take care of oneself. Cannot eat or drink normally with chopsticks (he just plays with them). When I teach him, he ignores it and refuses to learn at all. I'm very anxious. Seeing children go to school makes me even more anxious. Do I still need to take him for a check-up?

Doctor's answer:

The child has mild cerebral developmental delay. Intellectual disability. Children with cerebral developmental delay have lower motor skills than their peers of the same age. They have poor motor self-control. Those with mild impairment may only show slightly less flexible or clumsy hand and foot movements. Severe cases may be unable to grasp objects with both hands, walk with both feet, roll over, sit up, stand, chew properly, or swallow normally.
