Features: The "Collection of Calligraphy for Copying and Creating from Famous Stele and Inscriptions Throughout History" series has the following characteristics:
(1) In addition to selecting model characters from the original stele and inscriptions, this collection also uses the radicals and components of the model characters to design and combine a large number of model characters using computers. It strives to achieve the rules and artistic charm of the original model characters as much as possible, providing learners with materials for copying and creating.
(2) All model characters are restored to ink tracings to make them closer to the true works of calligraphy masters. At the same time, they are moderately enlarged and marked with fine white lines to indicate the brushstroke techniques, making them intuitive and clear. This helps learners better understand the characteristics of the masters' calligraphic styles and improves the effectiveness of basic calligraphy training.
The "Collection of Calligraphy for Copying and Creating from Famous Stele and Inscriptions Throughout History" is divided into 6 volumes: "Ouyang Xun's Ji Cheng Gong Collection of Ancient Poems," "Yan Zhenqing's Duo Bao Ta Stele Collection of Ancient Poems," "Liu Gongquan's Xuan Mi Ta Stele Collection of Ancient Poems," "Zhao Mengfu's Dan Ba Stele Collection of Ancient Poems," "Wang Xizhi's Orchid Pavilion Preface Collection of Ancient Poems," and "Han Lì Shi Chen Stele Collection of Ancient Poems." This volume is the "Han Lì Shi Chen Stele Collection of Ancient Poems." It includes a total of 23 five-character and seven-character quatrains, each accompanied by works (model pieces), along with exquisite illustrations that closely match the artistic atmosphere of the ancient poems. Both in content and form, it is very suitable for primary and middle school students and junior high school calligraphy learners, allowing them to choose their preferred collection and providing them with a relatively complete, easy-to-grasp, and progressive guidance for learning calligraphy.
The Shi Chen Stele was erected in the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong, and is carved on two sides. The front side carves the "Memorial Inscription of the Lu Prefect Shi Chen in Worshiping Confucius." The front stele was carved in March of the second year of the Jianning era (AD 169). The back stele was carved in April of the first year of the Jianning era (AD 168) and contains the "Inscription of the Lu Prefect Shi Chen in Offering Sacrifices to the Confucius Temple." The stele is 7 chi high and 3 chi 4 inches wide. The front stele has 17 lines, with 36 characters per line. The back stele has 14 lines, with 36 characters per line. The calligraphic style of both sides is consistent, suggesting that it was created by the same person.
The Shi Chen Stele features round, elegant, and classical brushstrokes, with an overall appearance of rigor and thickness. The layout of the entire stele is unified and harmonious, orderly and well-structured, with square and balanced characters. The calligraphic style is graceful and well-proportioned, with distinct "wave" and "corner" strokes. The brushwork is mostly "entering from the reverse and exiting horizontally," combined with a meticulous and rigorous style, making it particularly suitable for beginners.
Calligraphy, primarily as a form of artistic expression, has a history dating back to the Warring States period. It flourished and matured during the Eastern Han Dynasty.
