Features: This album is a special collection of the fourth batch of outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai, recently announced. The list of buildings for this batch took over two years from nomination to announcement. During this period, the Shanghai Housing and Land Resources Administration Bureau and the Shanghai Urban Planning and Land Administration Bureau organized the application process according to the Shanghai Historical and Cultural Landscape Areas and Outstanding Historical Building Protection Regulations (hereinafter referred to as the Protection Regulations). District and county real estate and planning departments organized nominations, professional departments conducted investigations, and information was widely solicited from the public through media channels. After preliminary selection, in accordance with the Protection Regulations, opinions were sought from the Cultural Relics Committee, building owners, and district and county governments. Four expert review meetings were held successively, and public notices were made through The Liberation Daily, The Xinmin Evening News, and the municipal government information network. Finally, the municipal government approved and announced the list on October 31, 2005. The recommendation process for outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai will continue, and it is hoped that a regular research and investigation mechanism can be gradually established to encourage public participation. Outstanding historical buildings that meet the standards will be announced by the municipal government in accordance with the procedures.
