Features: The "Collection of Calligraphy from Famous Stele and Inscriptions Series" has the following characteristics: (1) This collection not only selects exemplary characters from the original stele and inscriptions but also uses the radicals and components of these characters to design and combine a large number of exemplary characters using computer technology. This approach strives to achieve the legal and spiritual essence of the original characters, providing learners with materials for copying and creation. (2) All exemplary characters are restored to ink tracings, making them closer to the true works of calligraphy masters. Additionally, they are slightly enlarged and marked with fine white lines to indicate brushstroke techniques, making them more intuitive and clear. This helps learners better understand the characteristics of the masters' calligraphic styles and improves the effectiveness of fundamental calligraphy training.
The "Collection of Calligraphy from Famous Stele and Inscriptions Series" is divided into six volumes: "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Ji Cheng Gong Stele by Ou Yangxun," "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Duobao Ta Stele by Yan Zhenqing," "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Xuan Mi Ta Stele by Liu Gongquan," "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Dan Ba Stele by Zhao Mengfu," "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Orchid Pavilion Preface by Wang Xizhi," and "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Shi Chen Stele in Han Lì." This volume is "Collecting Ancient Poems from the Ji Cheng Gong Stele by Ou Yangxun." It includes a total of 23 five-character and seven-character quatrains, each accompanied by works (demonstration pieces) and illustrations that closely match the artistic atmosphere of the poems. In terms of both content and form, it is very suitable for primary and middle school students and junior calligraphy learners, allowing them to choose their preferred calligraphic style and providing them with a relatively complete, easy-to-master, and progressive learning guide.
The "Liquan Ming Stele of the Ji Cheng Gong" was written by Ou Yangxun at the age of 76 and inscribed in the sixth year of the Zhenguan era. It is now located in Linyou, Shaanxi Province. The stele was commissioned by the emperor and written by Wei Zheng, with Ou Yangxun's calligraphy. The inscriptions record the discovery of a gushing spring by Emperor Taizong while vacationing at the Ji Cheng Gong. The stele has 24 lines, with 44 characters per line. Due to its focused and dedicated brushwork, there are no errors in either the strokes or the structure. Among the steles written by Ou Yangxun, the characters are relatively large and the forms are perfectly refined. This stele is a representative work of Ou Yangxun's later years, characterized by strong brush power, strict adherence to rules, exquisite strokes, and a rich, plump appearance. It combines beauty with strength, balance with danger, forming a unique style that is both rigorous and sharp yet warm and smooth.
Throughout history, this stele has been highly praised and described as "every stroke follows the rules, every character adheres to the norms." It has been a model for calligraphy learners for generations.
