Features: Over the past 50 years since the founding of New China, China's science and technology and medical health sectors have flourished, with a significant improvement in the general living standards of the people and a notable enhancement in physical fitness. Particularly in the 20 years since the reform and opening-up, the development of the health sector has been even faster. Amidst this wave of progress, the field of pediatrics has also made leaps and bounds in development. This has led to a significant change in the disease spectrum, with the incidence of some infectious diseases having markedly decreased, some even eradicated or nearly eradicated, such as smallpox and poliomyelitis. The incidence of diseases like diphtheria, kala-azar, measles, pertussis, epidemic meningitis, epidemic encephalitis B, and tuberculosis has also seen a substantial decline. However, the incidence and mortality rates of infectious diseases in children still account for a significant proportion. In daily pediatric practice, these are the clinical tasks faced every day, with up to 50% of infectious disease patients being seen. They remain the main diseases severely threatening the health of Chinese children. The mission to eradicate infectious diseases is a great and arduous endeavor for humanity, with a heavy burden and a long road ahead. Therefore, further strengthening the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases, reducing their incidence and mortality rates, and improving the health level of children still holds significant practical importance. Given the scarcity of specialized diagnostic books on pediatric infectious diseases in China, under the organization of Professor Liu Enxun of the Medical School of Hebei University, experts from various departments of the Medical School of Hebei University, Baoding Children's Hospital, and the Pediatric Department of Hebei University Affiliated Hospital have collaborated to compile the book "Diagnosis of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immune Deficiency Diseases." This book aims to contribute its share and responsibility in addressing the harm caused by infectious diseases to children.
