Features: 2 TV Animation Films Generally, people distinguish TV animation films (such as the animated series Journey to the West) from TV dramas (such as the TV drama Journey to the West) based on whether they are performed by live actors. If "whether performed by live actors" is considered one of the intrinsic features of a TV drama, then animation films and TV dramas are typically separate categories. However, if we broadly define TV dramas as "narrative art in visual form," without considering whether they are performed by live actors, then TV animation films should also fall within the scope of TV dramas. In fact, in the examination syllabus for the licensed TV drama production qualification exam in China, animated films are explicitly classified as TV dramas. The examination syllabus for the TV Drama Production Management defines 12 types of TV dramas, including: (1) modern dramas; (2) historical dramas; (3) ancient costumes dramas; (4) crime dramas; (5) comedies; (6) romance dramas; (7) martial arts dramas; (8) documentaries; (9) science fiction dramas; (10) puppet dramas; (11) domestic dramas; (12) animated films. From the perspective of the development of TV dramas, classifying animated films as TV dramas also has its necessity. Currently, some live-action TV dramas already incorporate elements of animation (e.g., the opening sequence of The Grand Mansion and A Northeast Family). If the presence of animation segments in these TV dramas is still relatively minor, in the future, TV dramas may fully feature live actors and animated characters performing side by side, achieving equal prominence (similar to the films Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Stuart Little). In the film industry, pure animated films such as The Lion King, Mulan, The Monkey King Subdues the Demon, and Brothers of the Gourd are not only animated films but also films. In the television industry, animated films can naturally also be TV dramas. Strictly speaking, the term "animated film" itself does not explicitly specify its narrative characteristics. However, in conventional usage, animated films more often refer to narrative works of considerable length. Therefore, we can also use "animated film" to refer to TV animation films, much like how "film" is used to refer to feature films. 3 Opera-Drama TV Series The now-accepted name "Opera-Drama TV Series" (rather than "TV Opera") further expands the scope of TV dramas, making it a Chinese-style musical or opera on the stage of TV dramas. Opera-Drama TV Series are no longer mere records of stage dramas: cameras replace the audience's eyes, focusing on different performance areas on stage with varying shots; some works supplement or replace traditional stage design with extensive real locations and exterior scenes. Of course, the traditional styles of opera, such as singing, reciting, acrobatics, and stylized performance, still remain significantly present. When opera-drama TV series are categorized as TV dramas, whether they primarily use music and dance as their main expressive means also becomes an element in the definition of TV dramas. P20-21
