At the age of fifty, one understands one's destiny. Looking back at the fifty years of the Philosophy Department, like other philosophy departments in the country, it often navigated through twists and turns in political storms. After the reform and opening-up, it returned to academia. Philosophy indeed bears the responsibility of observing and critiquing the times, but thought can only be deepened and advanced by taking academia as its vehicle, through the laws of academia itself. Behind the calm surface of academia lies the trajectory of intellectual change. In an open era, academia is also open. How can we leverage the resources of scholars from both shores of the Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas to gradually form a common academic community within the Chinese academic sphere, establish Chinese academic norms, and foster effective academic exchanges within the Chinese academic community? These questions are worth careful reflection. Perhaps the destiny of academia will naturally manifest in this very soil. Fudan Philosophical Review aims to provide a platform for academic exchange in philosophy. Through academic dialogue, it seeks to advance the depth of thought. In this issue, we have organized several groups of articles, with a focus on two key areas: one is key Buddhism, and the other is phenomenology. Fudan Philosophical Review will continue to publish thematic and in-depth articles in each subsequent issue, thereby forming shared topics and an internal dialogue dynamic.
