Li Gao was one of the four great medical masters of the Jin and Yuan dynasties, and his academic thought was summarized by later physicians as the "Soil Strengthening School" (Bǔtǔ Pài). This book is divided into 21 categories, containing 21 medical discussions and listing over 280 recipes, covering various clinical disciplines such as internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and ophthalmology. The medical discussions highlight Dongyuan's theory that "Soil is the mother of all things, and the spleen and stomach are the source of generation," asserting that the onset of many diseases is related to internal injury to the spleen and stomach, emphasizing that treatment should focus on strengthening the spleen and stomach. The recipes listed, such as Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Supplementing Middle-Enhancing Qi Decoction), Qingshu Youqi Tang (Clearing Summer-Heat and Enriching Qi Decoction), and Shengyang Yigai Tang (Lifting Yang and Strengthening the Stomach Decoction), are meticulously crafted and ingenious, all becoming famous and widely used recipes in later generations. This book fully reflects Dongyuan's experience and achievements in clinical practice across various disciplines, making it a comprehensive medical work highly practical for clinical use. It holds significant reference value for those studying Dongyuan's academic thought and clinical practices.
