Patient's question:
Candida vaginitis has recurred again, it's very itchy, what should I use to clean? Baking soda? Potassium permanganate? Thank you. Will it damage the normal flora after washing?Doctor's answer:
The main treatment methods include the following:(1) Local application of nystatin. Nystatin tablets can be inserted deep into the vagina once daily, with 50,000–100,000 units per dose, for a course of 7–10 days. If possible, nystatin cold cream (50,000 units/g) can be applied to the external genital skin. Oral nystatin can also be used.
(2) Every night or every other night, a 2%–4% baking soda solution is used to rinse the external genital area and vagina before bed. After rinsing, a 0.5%–1% gentian violet solution is applied to the vaginal walls and external genital area, with 5 treatments constituting a course.
(3) Traditional Chinese medicine therapy. Mix one vial of Bingbeng Powder with two vials of Xilai Powder and spray onto the vaginal walls once daily, for a course of 10 days. Alternatively, 3–5 stems of mugwort (or stem) or garlic stems can be decocted and used for external washing, with a course of 7 days. For Huangbai, dandelion, clematis, and Sophora, each 15 grams, decoct the herbs, first steam and then wash and apply to the external genital area and vagina twice daily.
During treatment, attention should be paid to the following:
- Foot baths and external genital washing basins should be kept separate, not shared, and regularly disinfected with boiling water after use.
- Underwear should be changed frequently, washed daily, boiled, and dried before wearing again.
- Medications for the external genital area and vagina should be used simultaneously.
- The concentration of gentian violet solution should not be too high, and it should not be applied too frequently, to avoid causing ulcers in the external genital area or vagina.
