Patient's question:
I had my last menstrual period on April 12th, and on May 20th, I found out I was pregnant. From May 24th to May 30th, I experienced bleeding similar to menstruation. After that, my hCG levels have been slowly rising. It has been over 70 days now, and on the 73rd day, my hCG was over 3,700. Apart from breast tenderness, there have been no other abnormalities. However, starting yesterday, I have had a small amount of dark-colored bleeding. Additionally, multiple ultrasound and color Doppler scans have not detected a gestational sac or fluid.Could this be a missed miscarriage? Or is it an ectopic pregnancy? If it is a missed miscarriage, would the hCG levels rise this way?
First follow-up question: (2007-6-26 12:23:55) If the hCG continues to rise after a missed miscarriage, should the gestational sac be visible in the uterus?
Doctor's answer:
Hello, after the fetus stops developing, HCG will no longer rise. However, it is recommended that you undergo a titer test for urinary HCG to determine if it is caused by a molar pregnancy.
