Embryonic arrest, must undergo an abortion?

Patient's question:

I am 34 years old this year, in good health, with a menstrual cycle of 29 or 30 days, and ovulation occurs on the 19th to 21st day of the cycle. I have been married for 8 years without pregnancy. On New Year's Day in 2008, I tested positive for pregnancy. My last menstrual period was on November 30, 2007. By January 12th, which was 44 days into the pregnancy, I had an ultrasound and found a gestational sac measuring 151313mm, with a yolk sac. The ovaries were normal, and there was a fetal heartbeat. At the 58th day, I had some cold symptoms (just a sore throat and occasional coughing at night), but I didn't take any medication. By the 61st day of pregnancy (which coincidentally was the day of my normal menstrual period), I occasionally noticed brownish sticky discharge from the lower body, so the next day I went to the hospital.

Doctor's answer:

It is recommended to use antibiotics to prevent infection after undergoing a D&C procedure.
