How to treat children's tonsillitis and fever effectively

Patient's question:

My little girl is 7 years old. At first, she said that even drinking water made her throat hurt. She also found that her cough seemed quite severe. Now, she has a high fever that won't go down. Could you please advise on how to effectively treat tonsillitis and fever in children?

Doctor's answer:

If a child gets tonsillitis, symptomatic treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs can be given. For local treatment, laser therapy or medication rinsing is recommended. If the child's sore throat symptoms are particularly severe, pain relievers are advised to alleviate the symptoms. If there is a fever, the method of cooling should be chosen based on the body temperature. Below 38.5 degrees Celsius, physical cooling methods can be used; above 38.5 degrees Celsius, oral fever-reducing medication can be administered. In cases of recurrent inflammation, surgical treatment can be considered. After the condition improves, it is recommended to encourage the child to engage in appropriate exercise to boost immunity and prevent recurrence.
