Can there still be a missed miscarriage if there is a fetal heartbeat?

Patient's question:

At 8 weeks, there was a fetal heartbeat. I had two miscarriages in the past two years, both at 8 weeks when there was no fetal pole or heartbeat. Will I still have a miscarriage if there's no fetal pole or heartbeat at 8 weeks?

Doctor's answer:

Fetal death is generally caused by incomplete embryonic development, abnormal fertilized eggs; poor placental development, reproductive organ diseases, systemic diseases in women during pregnancy, trauma in women during pregnancy, sudden emotional changes, medication or viral infections during pregnancy, and male sperm quality issues. It can occur in different months.
