Features: Introduction to Jurisprudence is a textbook designed for first-year law students. Since 2006, our university has divided the Jurisprudence course into two segments: First, "Introduction to Jurisprudence" is offered to first-year law students, and second, "Principles of Jurisprudence" is offered to third-year students. Additionally, a "Jurisprudence Seminar" course is open to all undergraduate students. To accommodate this teaching arrangement, the undergraduate Jurisprudence textbooks are divided into two volumes: one is Introduction to Jurisprudence, and the other is Principles of Jurisprudence. I reluctantly took on the role of the lead editor for this textbook, responsible for soliciting contributions, drafting content, and overseeing the overall compilation. In recent years, some law schools in China have begun to experiment with segmented Jurisprudence teaching, and corresponding textbooks have been published. Overall, the writing of these textbooks is still in the exploratory stage, with no established conventions yet formed. This textbook is also an attempt. When arranging its structure, we considered the following factors: First, as an introductory textbook for law, this book focuses on providing students with foundational legal knowledge to prepare them for further specialized courses in law, emphasizing the cultivation of basic legal awareness and the training of legal thinking methods and abilities. In line with the requirements of the Ministry of Education's Guidelines for Jurisprudence Teaching, it incorporates and integrates relevant knowledge points. It references the content of the annual National Judicial Examination syllabus related to Jurisprudence. Based on the fundamental consensus achieved in the field of Jurisprudence, it appropriately reflects the characteristics of undergraduate legal education.
