How long is long-term?

Patient's question:

, I am unmarried and have some gynecomastia. After examination, it was found that my testosterone level is low, at 3.2, with a reference range of 3.5-10.7. Under the guidance of a doctor, I have just started taking methyltestosterone tablets, two times a day, one tablet each time. However, I have seen that long-term use of this medication can damage liver function and may cause testicular atrophy in men. I would like to know how long "long-term" refers to? What amount constitutes a "large dose"? How long do I need to take it? Are there any alternative medications? I am worried about it affecting my future fertility.

Doctor's answer:

Don't take androgens, use traditional Chinese medicine to treat it, no side effects
