Patient's question:
BR> Patient age 20 Medical history: This trait has existed since a very early ageDoctor's answer:
We refer to this condition as gynecomastia. Gynecomastia can occur in men of various ages, including adolescents and middle-aged or elderly men. It is generally more common as a unilateral condition, but it can also be bilateral. Men, like women, have breast tissue, and when this tissue proliferates, the breasts can enlarge. There are many causes of gynecomastia in men, but overall, it is primarily due to hormonal imbalances. During puberty, boys may experience breast enlargement as part of sexual development, but there is no need to worry excessively, as this usually resolves within 12 to 16 months. Conditions such as undescended testicles, inflammation, trauma, or tumors of the testicles can lead to testicular dysfunction, reducing testosterone levels in the body and causing breast development. Patients with liver cancer may experience breast enlargement because the liver cannot metabolize estrogen in the body in a timely manner, leading to an increase in estrogen levels and subsequent breast enlargement. Some patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate cancer may need estrogen therapy, which can also cause breast enlargement. Additionally, steroid medications or drugs similar to amphetamines can promote breast development. When breast enlargement occurs in men, it is usually not very significant and often,,,,。Breast enlargement during puberty does not require treatment. Breast enlargement caused by estrogen-containing medications, foods, or supplements usually resolves gradually after discontinuation of the medication. If the enlargement is significant, surgical treatment may be considered.
