Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings for Gaokao, examination format, and admission methods, with steady progress year by year. Especially in the past five years, the pace and depth of reforms have significantly increased. The examination content is comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, the entire country adopted new curriculum papers. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. In terms of subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Comprehensive," and "3+Arts/Science Comprehensive + 1" have emerged. This year, the Gaokao for English includes both listening and non-listening versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent (self-set) Gaokao papers. Initially, Shanghai pioneered this approach, breaking the monopoly of a single Gaokao paper nationwide. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had adopted independent papers, while several national Gaokao papers were also introduced for different provinces to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao papers were designed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent provinces set more specific and detailed requirements based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for independent, reflecting the educational characteristics and standards of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao papers, not only can one observe the progress of Gaokao reforms but also grasp the trends and patterns of Gaokao paper setting. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions adopting independent admission programs. Some regions have even implemented specialized exams and admissions for vocational colleges. Gaokao reforms will continue, and the pace may accelerate, but the intensity will remain steady. Since Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand and adapt to the reforms, recognizing the trends in paper setting. Through (Gaokao papers), one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of Gaokao reforms. Therefore, based on a thorough analysis of national and independent Gaokao papers over the years, we have selected representative questions from 2002-2004 and all recent Gaokao papers to compile The New Five-Year Gaokao (The New Five-Year Gaokao Compilation and Detailed Explanations) to meet the urgent needs of teachers and students. This book covers subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Comprehensive, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, including Gaokao papers used in various regions over the past five years. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note:
1. Since 2005, all Gaokao papers nationwide have adopted new curriculum papers. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum materials, especially in Mathematics, which is more pronounced, this book includes only a minimal number of old curriculum Gaokao papers. For Gaokao papers before 2004, only representative and excellent papers are selected.
2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent papers. These papers share commonalities in adhering to the examination syllabus while also reflecting regional characteristics based on their examination guidelines or supplementary notes. These papers serve as references for both their respective regions and others, so all independent papers are included in this book.
3. In most national and provincial Gaokao papers for Mathematics, students of Arts and Science streams take different papers. However, in the near future, the practice of separate Arts and Science Mathematics papers will no longer exist. Therefore, this book no longer includes papers with both streams. To more intuitively reflect the differences and changes in Arts and Science Mathematics Gaokao and maximize information per price, the Mathematics papers in this book are combined. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended for Arts or Science students only, respectively. Questions without such marks are for both streams, with corresponding answers marked. Thus, this book is suitable for both Arts and Science students.
4. English Gaokao papers are divided into listening and non-listening versions. The listening sections are accompanied by audio cassettes. Considering the convenience of using audio cassettes, questions from the same year are organized separately, with listening papers first and non-listening papers second. The recordings for the 2005 papers were read by American experts, ensuring clear pronunciation, with repetitions and speeds adjusted to actual Gaokao requirements. The recordings for the 2006 papers were recorded during the Gaokao in various provinces, accurately reflecting the actual pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening quality, making them more valuable for reference. The order of recordings on the audio cassettes matches the order of questions in the book exactly.
5. In most regions, the "3+Arts/Science Comprehensive" format is used, with very few regions testing single subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography. Since comprehensive subject review is based on individual subjects, this book includes both single subject Gaokao papers and split questions from comprehensive subjects for the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography. Split questions and single subject papers differ in quantity and scoring, so students should adjust and manage their time accordingly during practice.
6. This book is primarily intended for use in the later stages of Gaokao preparation, especially after the second round of review, to practice full Gaokao papers. This helps assess previous review effectiveness, identify gaps, and fill in knowledge gaps. Additionally, practicing real Gaokao papers helps students familiarize themselves with the exam.
7. Most questions in this book come with detailed answers, which are compiled at the back of the book. These answers are useful for teachers in providing review guidance and for students in self-assessment.
8. To better assist readers in using this book and facilitate student communication, an online service is provided. In addition to sharing problem-solving insights, readers can also receive additional test papers and related supplementary materials.
