Features: On July 9, 2005, Lu Wenfu, a contemporary renowned writer and honorary vice chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association, passed away in Suzhou due to illness, at the age of 77. Lu Wenfu was born on March 23, 1928, in Taixing, Jiangsu. He graduated from Suzhou High School in 1948 and joined the liberation areas in northern Jiangsu the same year. In 1955, he began his literary career, gaining fame with the short story "The Depths of the Alley" in 1956. However, he was soon labeled a rightist and sent to rural and industrial labor reeducation for a long period, only returning to Suzhou to engage in professional writing in 1978. Later, he served as vice chairman of the Suzhou Literature and Art Federation and vice chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association. Over his 50-year literary career, Lu Wenfu achieved outstanding success in novels, essays, and literary criticism. He was celebrated for his excellent works such as "Sacrifice," "The Family of Vendors," "The Fence," "Pride," and "The Gourmet," as well as his literary theory collections like "Discussions on Fiction Outside the Door." Among these, "The Gourmet" is his most famous masterpiece. This book was compiled to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of the renowned writer Lu Wenfu. It includes more than 30 articles by literary giants such as Wang Meng and many of Lu Wenfu's close friends during his lifetime, along with dozens of precious photographs, many of which are being published publicly for the first time.
