Modifications:
① Qi stagnation and blood stasis type. Symptoms include menstrual cessation, chest and abdominal fullness, belching and nausea, lower abdominal pain, irritability, yellow greasy tongue coating, red with purplish spots, wiry and slippery pulse, or wiry and rapid pulse. Add Angelica sinensis 9g, Lindera aggregata 6g. For severe abdominal pain, add Corydalis tuber 12g, Fufang Shixiao San (wrapped) 12g. For liver area distending pain, add Curcuma 9g, Salvia miltiorrhiza 12g.
② Cold invasion and blood coagulation type. Symptoms include pale complexion, aversion to cold, appetite, lower back pain, abdominal pain, delayed menstruation, or white leukorrhea, white greasy tongue coating, grayish tongue coating, wiry and thready pulse. Add Cinnamon bark 12g, Dry ginger 1.8g, or Evodia fruit 1.5g. For significant abdominal pain, add Asarum 1.2g, Corydalis tuber 9g.
