Pregnant for almost 7 months and still vomiting, why?

Patient's question:

Doctor, hello. My wife is 7 months pregnant. She started vomiting badly about 40 days into the pregnancy and didn't stop until around 3 months. Now, at 7 months, she's started vomiting again, as if the pregnancy symptoms are returning. I don't know if this is normal?

Doctor's answer:

Severe vomiting is considered pregnancy-induced hyperemesis. If you need to be cautious, it may cause electrolyte imbalance, leading to shock and life-threatening conditions. Besides a small amount of bleeding, do you have any other discomforts? Such as abdominal pain, dizziness, etc.? If the bleeding is only minimal and stops afterward, with no other symptoms, it should be fine. I do not recommend going to the hospital for an ultrasound, as radiation is harmful to the fetus. I hope my answer helps you.
