What are the clinical symptoms of cervical inflammation?

Patient's question:

My wife has been feeling unwell for several days. It's mainly suspected to be related to the cervix. So, she underwent a gynecological examination, and the results showed cervical inflammation. I don't know what this condition is and would like to understand its clinical symptoms.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, the main symptoms of cervical inflammation are an increase in leukorrhea. Leukorrhea appears as creamy, mucous-like discharge, sometimes yellow or purulent. When polyps form, it may lead to bloody leukorrhea or post-coital bleeding. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic area, it can cause lower back and sacral pain, lower abdominal heaviness and distension, and dysmenorrhea. These symptoms may worsen before and after menstruation, during bowel movements, and after sexual intercourse. At times, they may also be accompanied by frequent urination, difficulty urinating, and menstrual irregularities, as well as infertility. Cervical erosion is closely related to cervical cancer. Patients with cervical erosion have a significantly higher incidence of cervical cancer compared to those without cervical erosion. Therefore, active treatment should be pursued when cervical erosion is present.
