Features: This book serves as a systematic and long-term assistance and welfare program set up by organizations for their employees. Through the diagnosis of the organization by professionals, their suggestions, and the professional guidance, training, and counseling provided to employees and their immediate family members, it helps solve various psychological and behavioral problems of employees and their family members, thereby improving individual employee performance and organizational overall effectiveness. Practices in developed countries over many years have proven that Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) are the optimal solution for addressing occupational mental health issues. This book is China's first work on Employee Assistance Programs. Based on extensive reference to research and practical outcomes in occupational mental health and EAP-related fields abroad, combined with recent years of practice in EAP, this book is written to meet the actual needs of modern organizational management and employee personal development, balancing both practicality and academic rigor, as well as professionalism and accessibility.
This book constructs the basic model of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) in China from several aspects: fundamental theories, EAP research and evaluation methods, EAP applications, and case studies. It not only meets the urgent need for EAP-related books in China but also provides corresponding references for disciplines such as applied psychology, organizational behavior, human resources, and management.
Unlike Western EAP books that follow a consistent format, this book focuses on targeted discussions of common workplace issues in China from the perspective of occupational mental health, including physical and mental well-being, stress management, burnout, workplace design, and psychological support during layoffs. Due to this approach, the chapter structure of this book differs significantly from traditional Western EAP books, especially in the presentation of practical EAP content and operational aspects, which removes many traces of Western traditional EAP. For example, issues like substance abuse, which are often emphasized as intervention priorities in Western EAP, are largely absent in this book. This choice is based on the realistic needs of China, and from this perspective, the book is not a comprehensive and complete work on EAP but rather a positive and meaningful exploration around China's EAP model.
