Features: The integration and coordinated development of regional economies have become a new trend in China's economic development. The reasons for this trend are mainly international and domestic: First, with the globalization and regionalization of the economy, a country's economic strength is increasingly reflected in the competitiveness of its regional economies. Economic zones centered around major urban agglomerations play an increasingly important role in global and national economic development. Second, the widening gap in regional economies will become a challenge for China's future economic development. How can a large, populous, and vast developing country control the growing regional imbalances during its economic development and gradually narrow the gap to achieve coordinated regional economic development? This is an issue that has not yet been resolved by developing countries, and therefore, there are no ready-made answers. However, it is an unavoidable problem for the true rise of China's economy and the achievement of its economic development goals. Third, although China has carried out more than 20 years of reform and opening-up, it has basically completed the transition from a planned economy to a socialist market economy. However, the management system characterized by administrative regions has hindered the formation of a unified domestic market to varying degrees and affected the efficiency of market mechanisms in allocating resources among regions. The coordinated development of China's regional economies requires exploring models and mechanisms for coordinated regional economic development. The development of the Pan Pearl River Delta Economic Zone aligns with the needs of China's economic development.
