Patient's question:
Fallopian tube obstructionDoctor's answer:
The first-line treatment for fallopian tube blockage is in vitro fertilization (IVF). The fallopian tubes are delicate tubes with ciliated tissue on the mucosal layer of their inner walls, which can move to transport sperm and embryos. Before the advanced IVF technology was available, our only option was to use a catheter to clear the fallopian tubes, hoping for a small chance of pregnancy. With IVF technology, we can extract sperm and eggs, fertilize them in vitro, and then gently place the resulting embryos back into the uterine cavity. The success rate for each embryo transfer cycle is nearly 60%, and it greatly reduces the risk of ectopic pregnancy. Therefore, I personally do not recommend the catheter procedure. When seeking medical treatment, it is essential to go to a reputable hospital. Here are a few hospitals I know:
Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University
Changsha Maternal and Child Health Hospital
Xiangtan Maternal and Child Health Hospital
