Features: As one of the earliest and most mature disciplines in the social sciences, economics has always been a prominent field. Marked by Adam Smith's publication of his seminal work The Wealth of Nations in 1776, the progress and achievements of economics over the more than 200 years since the birth of modern economics are truly astonishing. Although this discipline did not originate in China, it has blossomed in the context of China's reform and opening-up. Today, without the thinking and language of economics, we cannot appropriately analyze the rich and diverse economic issues, let alone propose appropriate solutions. On the other hand, as a historic event of epoch-making significance in contemporary China and even globally, China's reform and opening-up and its profound socio-economic transformation have also provided a broad stage for economics to flourish. Therefore, China's experience and development model need to be summarized, refined, and elevated using economic tools; similarly, the numerous challenges emerging in China's socio-economic transformation and economic development, especially the unprecedented regional disparities and wealth inequality, the increasingly severe ecological and environmental disasters, the gradual spread of corruption, and the urgent need to address institutional loopholes and even the improvement of the constitutional system and the construction of a harmonious society, all require an economic perspective to examine, reflect upon, and address. This book is one of the works in the Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Finance and Economics Research Foundation Series of the School of Finance and Economics at the Central University of Finance and Economics. It is divided into several parts, including the Learning from Others, Fiscal, Financial, Education, Industry, and Comprehensive sections, and includes numerous outstanding research articles with insightful views on resource utilization.
