Patient's question:
Test tube Endometriosis Adenomyosis to be ruled outDoctor's answer:
It is generally believed that chocolate cysts that occur on the ovaries often have a larger lesion volume, or endometriotic nodules in other parts of the body with a diameter of 2 centimeters or more, are difficult to control with medication and require surgical treatment; or even after six months or even a year of medication, the condition does not improve, surgery should also be considered for removal. If the patient is young and does not have children, during surgery, only the endometriotic lesions are removed while the uterus and normal ovarian tissue are preserved. This is called conservative surgery. This type of surgery preserves the possibility of fertility, but the recurrence rate is relatively high. If the patient already has children and is older (35), the uterus can be removed along with the endometriotic lesions while the normal ovarian tissue is preserved. In the long run, this method is more effective than conservative surgery, but it cannot completely prevent recurrence. If the patient is close to menopause, or the endometriotic lesions are too extensive and difficult to completely eradicate, the uterus and ovaries should be removed together during surgery.
