Features: Based on the fifth edition published in 2001, the following adjustments, revisions, and supplements have been made:
(1) To accommodate the teaching model of clinical medical colleges, a new Part titled "General Principles" has been added to this book. The second chapter of the fifth edition's Part titled "Basic Equipment for Otolaryngological Examination," the introduction, and part of the ninth Part have been incorporated into the General Principles. The book now includes an introduction to the gradually popularized otolaryngology-head and neck surgery examination and treatment integrated workstations, as well as general principles of diseases, medication principles and characteristics. The appendix on commonly used drugs in the specialty has been retained.
(2) The introduction to nasal endoscopic surgery has been added.
(3) New content such as otomicrosurgery has been introduced to address the limited teaching hours in this discipline and to make the book a valuable reference for clinical physicians.
(4) The section on neck surgery has been significantly expanded and updated to reflect the recent expansion of clinical work in this discipline.
(5) The eighth Part of the book, "Special Inflammations of the Otolaryngology," focuses on common diseases such as tuberculosis. It also provides updates on the clinical manifestations of previously rare but now common diseases like syphilis and AIDS, as well as new concepts, methods, and techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases.
(6) Controversial academic issues or teaching reference content is briefly introduced in small print or with limited to encourage scientific debate and inspire students' thinking and innovative spirit.
