Can an 1812 follicle get pregnant?

Patient's question:

I have irregular periods and want to get pregnant. I have received 5 shots of HMG (human menopausal gonadotropin) and now there is one follicle on each side growing to 1812. The endometrium is 9mm. Should I inject hCG to trigger ovulation, or should I wait for the follicles to grow a bit more?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, normal antral follicles are 18-25mm. Both being too large or too small are unfavorable for ovulation. There are many factors that can cause ovulation disorders: central nervous system anovulation, hypothalamic anovulation, ovarian anovulation disorders, pituitary anovulation disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome; other endocrine systems outside the gonads, such as thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, as well as some systemic diseases like severe malnutrition leading to menstrual disorders and endocrine-related ovulation disorders. It is recommended that you go to a specialized hospital for a detailed examination, clarify the diagnosis, and actively treat it. Wish you health! 1
