Features: Najiao is a collection of short stories written by Lu Xun from 1918 to 1922. It was published by Beijing Xinchao Press in August 1923 as part of the "Literary Series" of the press. The first edition included fifteen stories. Starting from the third printing in October 1926, it was published by Beijing Beishu Press and included in the "Wuhé Series" compiled by the author. On January 13, 1930, during the thirteenth printing, the author removed one story, Buzhoushan (later renamed Buchian), and added it to the collection New Stories of Ancient Times. Subsequent editions followed the 1930 version, containing fourteen stories in total. The author intended to portray "the unhappy people in a sick society," "reveal the suffering to draw attention to its remedy," and "shout for the New Culture Movement." The work realistically depicts the social life from the Xinhai Revolution to the May Fourth Movement, exposing deep social contradictions and offering a profound critique and complete negation of the feudal system and outdated traditional concepts. It reflects a strong sense of national concern and a fervent desire for social reform. This book is part of the "World Youth Literature Classics Collection," featuring works such as A Madman's Diary, Kong Yiji, The Storm, Medicine, The True Story of Ah Q, and The Moonlight Boat from Lu Xun's collection Najiao.
