Features: With the promulgation of the new Chinese language curriculum standards by the Ministry of Education, the goals, tasks, teaching methods, and evaluation of Chinese language teaching have been infused with new ideas, bringing the subject of Chinese language closer to its "ultimate truth." It is our good wish to incorporate the spirit of the new curriculum standards as much as possible in the revision of How to Learn Junior High School Chinese. Based on the philosophy of the new curriculum standards, we have made appropriate changes in modern prose reading, classical Chinese reading, and narrative writing in this revision. The requirements for modern prose reading have been expanded compared to the past, emphasizing not only overall comprehension but also the formation of reading experiences, emotions, attitudes, and values. It focuses on the evaluation of content and the appreciation of form, highlighting the cultivation of questioning and inquiry skills, innovative thinking, and the absorption and accumulation of social and cultural knowledge. The quantity and difficulty of classical Chinese reading materials have also been increased. Relying solely on the limited classical Chinese poems and prose in the textbook is no longer sufficient to meet teaching needs. The expansion of extracurricular classical Chinese reading materials is inevitable. The requirements and evaluation standards for writing have also undergone systematic changes. In light of the above reasons, we have reexplained the framework of basic modern prose reading skills and meticulously compiled examples and exercises. We have added extracurricular content for classical Chinese reading and made significant adjustments to the content of writing, emphasizing the expression of emotional experiences and the formation of values and concepts, guiding students to pay more attention to the accumulation of life and thought.
