Features: This book examines human capital in western China and analyzes its role and contribution to the sustainable development of the region. Through macro and micro analyses of human capital investment in western China, as well as comparisons with eastern and central regions, it delves into the deep-seated reasons for the shortage of human capital in western China. It also explores macro-control mechanisms to promote human capital investment and its rational utilization in the region, which has a positive impact on human resource development during the Western Development Strategy. The term "Western" in this book refers to the ten provinces and municipalities in western China, including Xinjiang, Tibet, Guizhou, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Chongqing. It should be noted that since Chongqing was established as a direct-controlled municipality on March 14, 1997, statistical data for the period before this date, if not available in statistical yearbooks, will be analyzed together with Sichuan.
