Features: Over the years, Professor Zhong Qiquan has engaged in collaborative research, conducted field investigations into Japanese education, and connected with numerous Japanese scholars and primary and secondary school teachers. This has led to sustained and in-depth exchanges of educational information and ideas. Dialogue on Education: International Perspectives and Local Actions primarily collects 38 dialogues between Mr. Zhong and these renowned educational scholars over the years, summarized into the following four topics: school education systems, reforms in curriculum and teaching, debates on competency theory and academic ability theory, and educational evaluation and teacher education research. The dialogues around these topics are almost always based on the realities and cultural contexts of education development in China and Japan, while also connecting with contemporary international educational trends. Therefore, these dialogues possess a certain degree of relevance and foresight, serving as a valuable intellectual resource for educators and primary and secondary school teachers engaged in educational reform practices. This collection is part of the author's contributions to international educational academic exchanges over the years. The national policy of reform and opening-up not only allowed us to step out of our country but also enabled us to invite more international educational scholars to participate in collaborative research, organize academic discussions, or focus on topics of educational development. In this process, naturally arising topics of mutual interest often lead to informal discussions. The interviews collected in this volume are the products of such discussions.
