Patient's question:

I have been married for a long time, but I have never had children. Later, I went to the hospital for a check-up, and the doctor said that I am infertile. I want to know what factors or causes are leading to infertility?

Doctor's answer:

1. Male reproductive system diseases: Epididymitis, phimosis, penile plaques, incomplete penile development, and other conditions can all lead to male infertility.
2. Medications: Almost all antihypertensive drugs circulating in the market can cause varying degrees of sexual dysfunction. Antipsychotic drugs are similar in this regard. Medications should not be misused.
3. Endocrine diseases: Various endocrine diseases are common among humans and are frequent factors or causes of organic sexual dysfunction. Hypofunction of the gonads, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, adrenal cortex diseases, and pituitary diseases can all lead to decreased libido, thereby causing male infertility.
4. Obstruction of sperm delivery: Epididymitis and (tuberculosis of the vas deferens) can block the vas deferens, obstructing sperm passage. Sexual dysfunctions such as impotence and premature ejaculation cannot allow sperm to enter the female vagina.
