Features: The community environment includes both natural and cultural environments. The natural environment refers to the condition of the surrounding environment of the community, such as planning, noise levels, pollution status, water quality, grassland area, recreational spaces, and essential public facilities. The cultural environment primarily refers to the living and cultural atmosphere of the community. The environmental design within the community should adhere to a people-centered approach. The community should have the conditions and capabilities to create a first-class cultural atmosphere, fostering education through culture and entertainment, enriching the cultural depth of every resident, and cultivating a humanistic and high-quality community.
1. Meeting Healthy Living Requirements
The community should be located in a region suitable for healthy living, with a comprehensive understanding of the engineering geology, hydrogeology, and environmental conditions. It should be situated away from pollution sources to avoid and effectively control the impacts of water pollution, air pollution, noise, electromagnetic radiation, and excessive soil radon concentrations.
2. Convenient Transportation and Wide Roads
It is advisable to choose a community with convenient public transportation. Within about 300 meters of the community, there should be bus stops, subway, and light rail stations. This will greatly facilitate daily life, save commuting time costs, and eliminate the need for personal vehicle ownership. For those who prefer driving, proximity to the workplace will also save fuel costs. However, it should not be too close, as this may lead to noise and air pollution. The internal roads of the community should be spacious to reduce environmental pollution and safety hazards caused by motor vehicles, ensuring a peaceful living environment.
3. Convenient Consumption and Complete Amenities
The community should be near shopping malls or supermarkets for convenience. Kindergartens, schools, hospitals, post offices, and banks are also essential. Ideally, facilities such as cinemas, entertainment centers, gyms, and sports centers should also be available.
4. Disaster Prevention and Resistance Capabilities
The community should be equipped with necessary facilities to meet fire safety, rescue, disaster resistance, and evacuation requirements.
5. Reasonable Planning and Layout
Spaces for social interaction should be appropriately arranged. Safe and comfortable pedestrian spaces and barrier-free facilities should be designed to meet the outdoor activity needs of the elderly and children.
6. Referencing the Ancient Concept of "Concealing Wind and Accumulating Qi"
The ancient concept of "concealing wind and accumulating qi" refers to avoiding harmful winds and gases while preserving beneficial ones. Ancient Roman architect Vitruvius discussed methods for dividing urban structures and avoiding harmful airflows in his work De architectura. This aligns closely with the principle of "concealing wind and accumulating qi." In modern architecture, this principle is reflected in two main aspects:
(1) Outdoor Environment: Avoiding the influence of harmful airflows. Special attention should be paid to the orientation and flow of dry and wet air currents, as well as local seasonal winds. Additionally, issues of air pollution in the urban environment should be considered. However, this aspect is often overlooked in some modern buildings. The emergence of high-rise steel-frame glass curtain wall structures can create artificial harmful airflows between buildings. These airflows, under the influence of natural wind, can directly knock down pedestrians or even lift them into the air. High-speed airflows can also generate negative pressure, causing windows on upper floors to fall like autumn leaves, endangering the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
