Patient's question:
Normal sexual activity, but unable to conceive for a year. Semen analysis revealed azoospermia. Masturbated on Tuesday night, and went for a check-up on Friday, but it was required to refrain from ejaculation for more than four days before the test. Therefore, went for the ejaculation test on Sunday morning. The parameters obtained are as follows:Color: Grayish-white
Liquefaction time:30 minutes
Sperm motility: Grade 0
Sperm motility rate: 0%
Abnormal sperm under microscopic examination: 0%
WBC under microscopic examination: 0-1 HP/mL
Volume: 1.5 mL
Sperm count: 0.0
pH value: 7.5
SMI: 0 (Poor)
Normal sperm: 0%
Doctor's answer:
Azoospermia refers to a condition where the percentage of progressively motile sperm (grades a and b) in semen parameters is less than 50% or the percentage of grade a motile sperm is less than 25%. There are many causes that can lead to low sperm motility, but the most common ones include: prolonged abstinence (increased number of dead sperm, decreased sperm viability), excessively high or low environmental temperatures for sperm, varicocele, inflammation and infection of the reproductive tract, immune suppression, endocrine disorders, certain medications that affect sperm production, radiation, as well as smoking and alcohol intoxication. It is recommended that you undergo a comprehensive etiological examination and actively treat the condition based on the identified causes.
