How should tonsillitis with low fever in children be treated?

Patient's question:

My son is 4 years old. At first, he had a slightly sore throat, and I noticed it accompanied by mild coughing. Additionally, he had a slight fever and wasn't feeling well. Could you please advise on how to treat tonsillitis with low-grade fever in children?

Doctor's answer:

For treatment, symptomatic anti-inflammatory drugs can be given based on the child's symptoms, or local rinsing or topical spraying can be used. Medications can also be injected into the tonsils for effective results. If the sore throat is severe, appropriate pain relievers can be given. If the child has persistent fever that doesn't subside, antipyretic drugs can be taken orally. If there are multiple acute severe episodes or complications have already developed, tonsillectomy is recommended two weeks after the acute inflammation subsides. During the treatment period, a light diet should be maintained, with a focus on liquid foods.
