In recent days, I've been experiencing lower back pain and can't stand straight. My discharge is particularly abundant, yellow in color.

Patient's question:

In the recent days, I have been experiencing lower back pain that makes it hard to straighten up, excessive yellow discharge with a bad odor, lower abdominal pain and dragging sensation, and frequent vaginal bleeding. I suspect it might be pelvic inflammatory disease. I went to the hospital for a check-up, but the results have not come back yet.

Doctor's answer:

Abnormal white discharge color with a foul odor may indicate a bacterial vaginosis infection. Since you have previously been diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and adnexitis, the recurrence could be considered for continued treatment. Before starting treatment, additional gynecological examinations such as internal exams and routine leukorrhea tests can be performed to determine if the type of vaginitis has changed. If it remains the same, you can continue using the previous medications.
Recommendation: Pelvic inflammatory disease is primarily characterized by abdominal pain symptoms. If you currently do not have abdominal pain, the likelihood of PID recurrence is low. Treatment should focus on vaginitis first, and sexual activity should be avoided during the treatment period.
