Want to do IVF, when is the right time to check?

Patient's question:

Hello, if you have infertility and want to do IVF, when is a suitable time to get checked?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Here are the preparations needed for in vitro fertilization (IVF): For IVF, you must have a marriage certificate, both partners' ID cards, and a birth planning certificate. The male partner needs to have a semen analysis, and the female partner also needs to complete some basic examinations, such as a gynecological examination, dilation and curettage (D&C), tubal patency test, anti-sperm antibody test, liver function test, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), complete blood count (CBC), coagulation time, and basal endocrine hormone determination (on day 3 of the menstrual cycle). If there are no abnormalities, the doctor will create a medical record for you and tell you when to start IVF treatment.
Generally, medication is started around the mid-luteal phase, which is day 21 of the menstrual cycle, to lower the body's levels of gonadotropins. After about 8 days of medication, menstruation occurs. From day 3 to day 7 of the menstrual cycle, injections to promote follicular development are administered. After 3 days, an ultrasound is used to monitor the follicular development, and medication dosage is adjusted accordingly. Approximately 10 days after starting the follicular development medication, the follicles mature. At this point, eggs can be retrieved under ultrasound guidance through a transvaginal puncture. The eggs are then fertilized in vitro, and after 3 days, the fertilized eggs (embryos) are transferred to the uterine cavity. After the transfer, rest for 2-4 hours.
The entire process is relatively painless and generally does not require hospitalization.
