Features: Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories number over seventy. This book only includes two representative middle stories and three short stories. A Study in Scarlet is the first in the entire Sherlock Holmes series by Conan Doyle, almost setting the tone for subsequent stories, and serves as a guiding framework. The Hound of the Baskervilles is considered a masterpiece of the Sherlock Holmes series. The mysterious atmosphere created in the story, the various suspense elements, and the fluctuating, contradictory, and complex psychology of the characters all complement each other, achieving an artistic realm where scene and emotion merge. The works included in this book are translated from the "Champion Books" edition of The Complete Short Stories of Sherlock Holmes by the United States. Sherlock Holmes was the most renowned detective on the European continent at the time. In his struggles against criminals, no matter how complex the case or how perilous his situation, he could always turn misfortune into good fortune and overcome all obstacles. His secret weapon was his extraordinary intelligence. His remarkable ability lay in his skill at finding useful clues and drawing correct conclusions from the most subtle of clues that others often overlooked. He was not only adept at understanding the normal psychological activities, behavioral patterns, and daily habits of ordinary people but also thoroughly grasped the abnormal behavior of eccentric characters, the special psychology and atypical behavioral patterns of individuals in extraordinary circumstances. For most readers, the purpose of reading Sherlock Holmes detective stories is not to imitate Holmes's specific methods of solving cases but to gain wisdom, broaden their horizons, understand life, learn the mindset for observing things and handling problems, and thereby enhance their artistic appreciation and spiritual realm.
