Is the operation time long in the Qing Palace?

Patient's question:

Is the time for an imperial palace operation long? Compared to abortion, which is better?

Doctor's answer:

A D&C (Dilation and Curettage) is essentially a scraping of the uterus, and it is the traditional method for induced abortion. Unlike induced abortion, a D&C is used to remove any remaining tissue left in the uterine cavity after an incomplete miscarriage, aiding in uterine repair and reducing the risk of bleeding or infection. You may choose a painless D&C, but this depends on the medical capabilities of the hospital you are visiting. Whenever induced abortion is mentioned, people naturally think of a D&C, making it almost synonymous with induced abortion. In fact, D&C is the most commonly used method for early-stage induced abortion. Although a D&C does not require surgery, it is still a gynecological procedure that must be performed under strict sterilization conditions. The surgery involves two steps: the first step is to dilate the cervix to an adequate size, and the second step is to use a curette to scrape the embryo from the uterine cavity. The longer the pregnancy, the larger the fetus, and this requires the cervix to be dilated to its maximum extent to remove the fetus, making the D&C more difficult. Additionally, the longer the pregnancy, the softer the uterus becomes, which naturally increases the risk of uterine rupture during the procedure. Therefore, a D&C is generally only suitable for pregnancies of three months or less. It is not advisable to use a D&C for pregnancies beyond three months.
