The moon has risen. The monkeys want to get the moon. They build a human ladder to reach it, but fail. Little Yellow Monkey discovers the moon in the water, so everyone starts fishing for the moon in the water.
1. "Monkeys Fishing for the Moon" is a traditional Chinese story. Use this opportunity to teach children about traditional culture. You must know some stories related to "the moon in the water." Find a chance to tell them to your child.
2. Plot Practice: What method did the old monkey think of to get the moon? You can let the child answer the question by referring to the VCD.
3. Plot Practice: Why did the fat monkey look for a rope?
4. Plot Practice: How did Little Yellow Monkey think of the idea of the monkeys linking arms to fish for the moon?
5. Color and Number Practice: What color is the fat monkey? Where can you find it on the pages? How many times does it appear?
6. Game: Quickly flip the corner of the pages, and you’ll find a set of small animations. Let the child guess what animal it is. When the time is right, you can explain how movies and animations are made.
7. Game: On the back cover, there are instructions for origami. Fold a monkey following the steps. Use the folded monkey as a prop to play the "Monkeys Fishing for the Moon" role-playing game with your child.
8. Creative Practice: What other methods can the monkeys use to fish for the moon?
9. Storytelling Practice: The text in the picture book is simple, and there is no text in the animation. After the child becomes familiar with the book and the animation, ask them to retell the story in their own words—both briefly and in detail—to practice storytelling skills.
