Hypogastric gland cystostomy recurrence after one year!

Patient's question:

1 year ago, both sides of my Bartholin's gland cyst were treated with a fistula. A few days ago, I felt swelling on the left side again. It doesn't hurt when I'm lying down, but it's clearly painful when I stand up. Squeezing it a bit will cause pus to come out. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it had recurred, so they made another opening. Now, 2 days after the surgery, it's still swollen and painful. The doctor only told me to persist with intravenous fluid for inflammation every day, neither prescribing medication nor recommending sitz baths.

Doctor's answer:

Vaginal gland cyst is formed due to obstruction of the vaginal gland duct, leading to the accumulation of secretions. After the acute inflammation subsides, if the duct remains blocked, the secretions cannot be expelled, and the pus gradually turns into clear fluid, forming a cyst.
Recommendation: Cyst excision (pouch suture) has been practiced for many years and is indeed a simple, safe method with few complications and a low recurrence rate, while also preserving the function of the gland. It can also be applied to Bartholin's gland abscess.
