What is the difference between pelvic cancer and pelvic tumors?

Patient's question:

I went to the hospital for a check-up last month, and the doctor said I have a pelvic tumor. Could you please tell me the difference between pelvic cancer and pelvic tumors?

Doctor's answer:

Late-stage pelvic cancer patients often experience certain symptoms of abdominal and back pain, with being relatively common. Some patients may also exhibit symptoms of lower limb edema. As the condition progresses, the tumor will continue to grow, compressing the bladder and leading to symptoms such as frequent urination, urine splitting, and urinary retention. When it invades the rectum, it can cause difficulties in defecation. If it affects the gastrointestinal tract, corresponding digestive symptoms may arise, such as decreased appetite and impaired digestion and absorption.
