Patient's question:
Hello: My son has hydrocele with a size similar to a jujube. He is now 3 and a half years old. Can it be treated without surgery?Patient: Male, 3 and a half years old, in good health. He was born with hydrocele. When checked at the hospital, the doctor said it would be absorbed and would disappear in a short time. This summer, while bathing the child, I noticed it had returned again. How is hydrocele treated?
Doctor's answer:
2-year-old hydrocele can often be absorbed spontaneously, except for severe infection or those with other lesions, no treatment is required. Primary hydrocele has a short course, small amount of fluid, low, no obvious symptoms, no testicular atrophy or male infertility, and no treatment is needed. Traumatic effusion or acute inflammatory effusion should focus on treating the primary disease, and local heat application or physical therapy can be used to promote absorption. Those that cannot be absorbed will require later treatment.
