Do women with hydrosalpinx have any obvious symptoms?

Patient's question:

Doctor, my partner and I have been married for almost two years. We have never used contraception during our married life, but we haven't been able to get pregnant. Later, the check-up revealed that there was fluid accumulation in the fallopian tubes. Why didn't I notice it?

Doctor's answer:

Some patients with hydrosalpinx do not have obvious symptoms, while some patients may have the following symptoms:
1. Infertility: Hydrosalpinx obstructs the combination of sperm and eggs.
2. Dysmenorrhea: When hydrosalpinx occurs, pelvic congestion can lead to congestive dysmenorrhea.
3. Irregular menstruation: When inflammation affects the ovaries, it can damage ovarian function, resulting in menstrual abnormalities.
4. Abdominal discomfort: Mostly subtle discomfort, such as aching, fullness, and a sense of heaviness in the lower abdomen, back, and sacral region, often exacerbated by fatigue.
5. Other symptoms: May include increased leukorrhea, pain during intercourse, fatigue, and depression.
