Features: ig">Pan Qiezhi, originally named Changbang, was born in September 1915 in Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Beijing Jinhua Art College in 1916. He specialized in meticulous brushwork and heavy color figure painting, studying ancient murals and Eastern painting. His representative works include: The Creators of Grotto Art, Qu Yuan's Nine Songs, Bai Juyi's Long Flying Lament, Pastoral Flute, etc.; published art albums include: The Legend of Peacock Flying East to the South, Liping's Women's Poetry Illustrated; collected essays include: The Art of Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Yan Liben and Wu Daozi, Techniques of Meticulous Brushwork and Heavy Color Figure Painting, etc. Before the liberation, he held solo exhibitions in places like Nanjing and Shanghai. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, his works were selected for multiple national art exhibitions and overseas exhibitions, and he held a solo exhibition in 1978. He served as an assistant researcher at the Dunhuang Art Research Institute, head of the Fine Arts Section at the Chinese History Museum, editor of Art magazine, and member of the editorial board of Chinese Painting. Currently, he is the vice chairman of the Art Committee of Beijing Art Academy, a council member of the Chinese Artists Association, a council member of the Beijing Writers' and Artists' Federation, vice chairman of the Beijing branch of the Chinese Artists Association, and president of the Beijing Meticulous Brushwork and Heavy Color Painting Association. He is also a council member of the Chinese Art History Society.
