Its exalted status is unmatched by any other book. Throughout history, scholars have studied the Book of Changes, forming a powerful and continuous trend known as "Yi Studies." Since the time of Chen Tuan and Shao Yong in the Song Dynasty, the transmission of the Book of Changes has continued unbroken. The revised edition of Introduction to the Book of Changes highlights the central role of the Great Yi of Fu Xi in the Book of Changes. The () and the system of the Great Yi of Fu Xi did not originate in the Song Dynasty with Chen Tuan and Shao Yong but had already been popular since the Western Han Dynasty. The Jiao Family's Forest of Changes discusses this in great detail. From its broad and profound system, it can be seen as a relic of the pre-Qin era. This book, based on Shang Binghe's Annotations to the Jiao Family's Forest of Changes, Jiao Family's Exegesis, and Shang Family's Studies on the Book of Changes, aims to restore the true form of the Western Han Dynasty's Yi studies, which had been lost for over two thousand years. For this purpose, it explains some important concepts of the Yi path. It also supplements the sixty-four hexagram diagrams from Zhang Li's Deep Exploration of the Great Yi's Image and Number in the Yuan Dynasty. To aid beginners, it appends Shang Binghe's Jiao Family's Forest of Changes, which summarizes the essence of image studies, the original examination of the lost images of the Forest of Changes, the image and number of the Jiao Family, and the content of the Forest of Changes discussing the (pre-heaven hexagrams), making it easier to deeply understand the nature of Yi studies.
