Features: Huang Shaoxun, originally from Nanhai County, Guangdong Province, was born in Saigon, Southern Vietnam, in 1935. He returned to his homeland in 1957. In 1963, he graduated from the Chemical Engineering Department of Tianjin University and has been teaching at Beijing Chemical Fiber Institute (now Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology) ever since. In the 1990s, he specialized in French teaching at the School of Art and Design of the institute.
Huang Shaoxun has had a deep love for calligraphy since childhood. He initially practiced Tang Dynasty regular script and later studied Han Dynasty clerical script, gradually developing a style that is dignified yet graceful, elegant yet steady. His works are collected by places such as the Tiananmen Tower, the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Meixian Museum in Meixian, Guangdong Province. His calligraphy can also be found in the Capital Green Culture Stele Forest and the Henan China Han Garden Stele Forest. In 1993, Beijing Art and Design Press published the book "Huang Shaoxun's Clerical Script." In recent years, the calligraphy works created by Mr. Huang have been widely appreciated by friends both at home and abroad, as well as by compatriots in Taiwan and overseas Chinese.
Mr. Huang currently serves as a Standing Committee Member of the China Calligraphers' Association, a Committee Member of the China Calligraphers and Painters' Association, the Director of the Calligraphy Research Department of the Beijing East Calligraphy and Painting Research Society, and a member of the Beijing Cross-Strait Calligraphers and Painters Association. In 1997, he was selected for the "World" (World Who's Who).
