River-type parents
First, let's explore what river-type parents are. Their love for their children is like a river—gentle, continuous, and never running dry. The vast majority of Chinese parents fall into this category. This type of love is often selfless and unconditional. In the hearts of these parents, their child is always a little baby, and an helpless one at that. They are unwilling to let their child suffer, reluctant to let them grow up and become independent, and don't want them to spread their wings and fly. They completely fail to consider whether such love might drown them like a landslide, still pouring in endlessly. As a result, this type of love, if not handled properly, often falls into the trap of "overindulging the child," making them a vine that clings to their parents for their entire lives.
Rainwater-type parents
Rainwater-type parents give the impression of wanting to be the timely rain for their child, the one who always pulls them up when they are in trouble. However, here, "rainwater" refers to the unique way parents love and raise their children. Think about the distribution of rain throughout the year: there are the drizzly days of the rainy season, the fierce storms of the typhoon season, sudden afternoon showers, thunderous nights, and even droughts when the sky is clear but no rain falls.
