Features: The modern transformation of Chinese literature is closely linked with the establishment of the "national state" in modern China. It is itself a part of the activities of the Chinese nation in establishing the "national state." The modern transformation of Chinese literature is a process of modernization of Chinese literature. In a certain sense, we can even say that it is a part of the modernization of Chinese society and culture. The choices made by modern Chinese literature actually determined the subsequent development of literature. The choices of modern times have actually influenced the present until now. The problems encountered in contemporary Chinese literature, such as the marketization of literature, the issue of highbrow and popular literature, the relationship between literature and politics, whether writers maintain their autonomy in the face of various trends, the rise of realism as the mainstream of literature, the absorption of foreign influences by Chinese literature, the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese literature, and so on, can all be traced back to modern literature. Modern Chinese literature is essentially continuing along the path chosen in modern times.
